Soft tape method
Align the scale with one sidewall, wrap the tape snugly across the nail curve, then read the mark at the opposite sidewall.
Paper ruler method
Wrap paper across the widest part of the nail, mark both side edges, flatten the paper, and measure the distance in millimeters.
If between sizes
Choose the larger tip and file the sidewalls slowly. A too-small tip can lift because it cannot sit flush.
